Quarrying operations at Magheramorne were already underway at the time of the first Geological Survey of Ireland in 1867. Production of chalk continued until 1980 when quarrying ceased and the works finally closed in 2000. Since then, the site had been left in a state of disrepair, becoming a danger to the local community and not providing value to the local area.
Value delivered
Having purchased the 393-acre site in Jan 2021, discussions and surveys are underway for the adoption of renewable energy solutions. The site has garnered the attention of some of the largest energy providers in the UK, who are looking to harness the extreme weather cycles of the North of Ireland to generate power to the local and wider National communities.
